New Ramps Allow Easier Access to Sky Harbor

Beginning Monday, March 5, drivers will now find it easier to exit the Airport on the east side as two new ramps connecting Sky Harbor directly to southbound SR-143 open. This improvement allows drivers to exit the east side of Sky Harbor directly onto southbound SR-143 instead of driving south on 44th Street, turning east on University and connecting with the SR-143 on-ramps. The easier access to and from Sky Harbor and better traffic flow on SR-143 are part of an Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) project that began in January 2011.

Additional improvements on the SR-143 are also currently underway and drivers should be aware there will be detours or closures that may impact travel to and from the Airport. Be sure to check our Roadway Restrictions page for current information about detours and closures.

For more information on the SR-143 improvement project, visit the ADOT project website.
