Sky Harbor Offers Holiday Service to Travelers
With the holiday season upon us, many are traveling by air to see family and friends. As you may know, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recommends that travelers leave gifts unwrapped in the event they require secondary screening at the security checkpoint. Hearing this, you may wonder how you are going to wrap the gifts once you get to your destination. Not to worry, America’s Friendliest Airport® can help.
On December 20-23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., travelers will find gift wrapping stations beyond Terminal 4 Security Checkpoints B and C. Therefore, travelers won’t have to worry with spending time wrapping gifts beforehand and then getting them through security. Instead, they can bring them to the Airport or do some shopping at the Airport and have the gifts wrapped for free.
Donations will be accepted for the gift wrapping. All proceeds will benefit local United Way charities through the city of Phoenix Community Service Fund Drive. The gifts will be wrapped by Airport Navigator volunteers and employees who will be volunteering their time to help raise money for those in need this holiday season. Last year, about 400-500 gifts were wrapped for travelers and more than $775 was raised for charity.
“We are excited to offer this program again this year,” said Lexie Pierce, who was instrumental in organizing the gift wrapping program. “Last year, many were thrilled to have their gifts wrapped so that when they reached their destination, they didn’t have to worry about it and could instead relax and enjoy their family. We are proud to offer a service to travelers while helping the community at the same time.”
Travelers should look for signs to the gift wrapping stations in Terminal 4 once they get through the B and C Security checkpoints.
