Museum Youth Curator Experience
What was Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport like in the 1960s-1970s? What kind of impact did it have on the economic growth of Phoenix during this time? Alfred Alverico and Adam Runnion, two eighth graders at Greenway Middle School, are exploring these very questions as part of a special program called the Museum Youth Curator Experience. Under the guidance of their teacher Rebecca Kabaj and Megan Gately, Educator at the Arizona Historical Society, they are exploring Sky Harborís past.
Jeri Walker of the Phoenix Airport Museum Archive and Allen Greene of Sky Harborís Financial Management division have also been instrumental in assisting Alverico and Runnion with their project. In fact, Walker and Greene have provided valuable information about several subjects, including the airlines operating here during the 1960s and 1970s.
To find out more and to see Alverico and Runnionís exhibition, visit the Arizona Historical Society at Papago Park, 1300 N. College Avenue in Tempe, beginning on May 9.
