WrestleMania Arrives Soon in Phoenix

“The Grandest Stage of Them All” is a tagline you may have heard in reference to WrestleMania, but did you know that WrestleMania XXVI “Destruction in the Desert” will soon be taking place in the Valley? That’s right, near the end of March some 75,000 fans will descend on the Phoenix area for WrestleMania events and activities and at least half of them will travel through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Community organizations have been gearing up for this large-scale event for some time, and recently, PHX Sky Harbor had signs installed to welcome visitors to town for the event. Travelers and those passing through the Airport will notice the banners hanging in each of the terminals. And, if you’re in Terminal 4’s baggage claim area, you’ll see a countdown clock ticking away days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the event.

Want to pick up some WrestleMania merchandise? Desert Images in the lobby of Terminal 3 and Desert News and Gifts near Gates B1-B14 in Terminal 4 began selling shirts and other Wrestlemania items. Beginning Sunday, March 21, more retailers throughout the Airport in all terminals will be selling items.

A variety of WrestleMania events will be taking place from March 25-28 including WrestleMania Axxess at the Phoenix Convention Center which allows fans of all ages to participate in such attractions as game zones, autograph signs, interactive displays, etc. WrestleMania events will culminate on March 28 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, where five matches will take place, including World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho vs. Edge and WWE Champion Batista vs. John Cena, among others.

PHX Sky Harbor, America’s Friendliest Airport®, is prepared to handle the influx of visitors during this time as it has done for other events such as the Super Bowl and NASCAR races.
