FAA Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment
The city of Phoenix Aviation Department proposes improvements to the Runway Safety Area and Runway Object Free Area for Runway 25L at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) in order to:
- Comply with Federal law by providing a standard RSA or equivalent for Runway 25L;
- Enhance safety by providing a ROFA that is clear of fixed objects for Runway 25 L;
- Improve security by including the Runway 25L approach lighting system within the Airport perimeter fence.
A Draft Environmental Assessment (Draft EA) has been prepared by the city of Phoenix to supplement the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Final EA. The USACE is the lead agency under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is the cooperating agency. The Draft EA was prepared in accordance with FAA Order 5050.4B, NEPA Implementing Instructions for Airport Actions, and FAA Order 1050.1E, Environmental Impacts: Policies and Procedures.
The city of Phoenix Aviation Department requests your review and comment regarding the proposed improvements included in the Draft EA. Comments received will be addressed and the results included in the Final EA.
