Elevate PHX – Lauryn Mangum Reed

Lauryn Mangum Reed has been a business owner at Phoenix Sky Harbor for just over a decade and plans to be one for many more years to come. As Executive Vice President for TMG Hospitality USA, she says the airport was an opportunity that presented itself and she knew there was some magic to make happen.

TMG Hospitality USA is the owner operator of The Refuge, Flight Club and most recently, The Phoenix Magazine Café and Market. Mangum Reed says starting out at the airport was unique in the sense of, “We took it all on ourselves, threw ourselves into the deep end and figured it out. The airport was amazing as a partner in wanting us to be successful.”

Success that came with a lot of hard work but also excitement. “You never know what the day is going to bring, operating in the airport is always going to keep you on your toes,” said Mangum Reed. Who takes pride in her businesses being some of the friendliest places in the airport.

“We want to make sure we’re getting those friendly faces and go the extra mile for you,” she said. It’s important to recognize that the airport can be a stressful place for many passengers.” Her team thrives on creating a culture and environment where their businesses can serve as a welcome refuge for anyone traveling through the airport.

Commitment to her customers is something she also instills in her staff. Mangum Reed is thrilled that she has team members who thought they were just getting a job at the airport but now they’ve become part of the TMG Hospitality USA family and are growing and thriving, having more than just a job.

All of which makes perfect sense for Mangum Reed and her company, who in addition to her work at Phoenix Sky Harbor, is dedicated to serving the community of Phoenix. “I’m always looking for ways that I can help others,” said Mangum Reed, who was recently the youngest African American women to be appointed to the Salvation Army Metro Phoenix Advisory Board.

On top of it all, Mangum Reed has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. “The opportunities are endless with the airport, and it’s been a great ride and I have no intent of stopping.” Mangum Reed is dedicated to continuing to be a strong business owner, advocate for work-life synergy and empowering women to do everything they desire.
