Community Embraces the PHX Dementia Friendly Travel Workshop
The Guest & Employee Experience team hosted the third Dementia Friendly Air Travel Workshop on Wednesday, July 17. The workshop is designed to help passengers with dementia and their care providers plan and learn how to navigate a busy airport environment. The workshop featured representatives from the airport and TSA all in one room to share information and tips while answering questions from family members of those with dementia and care providers. In addition to the workshop, attendees were greeted by Navigator Buddies, the airport therapy dogs, and afterwards had the opportunity to participate in an airport tour led by Navigator Volunteers, which highlighted assistance areas and services throughout the terminals.
Phoenix Sky Harbor was the first airport in the country to offer this type of workshop and was recognized by Airports Council International – North America as the best Customer Experience Program for Large Airports as part of their Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience Awards in 2023.
