US Travelers Will Need Authorization to Enter UK
Starting on Jan. 8, 2025, US citizens visiting the United Kingdom—even for layovers—will need electronic travel authorization to enter or visit.
US travelers will need to apply through a new program called Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) via the UK ETA mobile app or website. It can take up to 72 hours, so passengers are advised to allow plenty of time.
