Phoenix Sky Harbor in the Community
Phoenix Sky Harbor is thrilled to serve the community that travels through America’s Friendliest Airport®. 2024 has already been busy with community engagements and plans to take part in several events in the surrounding Phoenix area.
Aviation staff recently attended the Light Rail Extension Ribbon Cutting and Celebration along with more than 2,000 people, including federal, state, and local leaders. They all gathered to celebrate the opening of the Northwest Phase II extension of light rail in Phoenix and the grand opening of a multi-modal transit center named after regional transit champion, former Phoenix Mayor and Councilmember Thelda Williams.
During the month of February, airport staff participated in the Kids at Hope Career Day, speaking to students at Whittier Elementary School about their chosen careers. On February 24, staff will be on hand to speak with community members at both the Laveen Community BBQ and the Chandler Innovation Fair.
Looking ahead, the airport plans to take part in several events that benefit and support our community. Some of the notable events Aviation staff will be at Wings for Autism®, the Wilson School District Fall Festival, Taking Flight at East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) Community Event, the Fiesta Bowl Parade, along with many others.
