An Adventure in Montreal
Montreal, Canada’s second largest city, offers many activities for all types of travelers. Visitors can explore the city’s rich history and diverse culture, check out the arts and food scene, and more. It’s easy to get to Montreal with nonstop flights on Air Canada.
Here are some activities travelers can do while they are there:
Take a walk down the cobblestone streets of Vieux-Montreal or Old Montreal. Visitors will see historic buildings and can visit the Notre-Dame Basilica with its Gothic Revival architecture. The historic Place Jacques-Cartier is a square not only with historic buildings, but shops, restaurants, and often performers.
Perhaps one of Montreal’s most iconic buildings is Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal. It’s an iconic dome on the mountain and is also a Catholic Basilica. Mount Royal itself offers great views of the city as well as trails and green spaces.
Soak in the atmosphere of Montreal just by wandering through local neighborhoods like the Plateau Mont-Royal and Mille End. We hear that Mile End has some of Montreal’s most famous bagels. Stop by St Viateur or Fairmount or both! While we’re on the subject of food, Montreal has many local markets to try local specialties. Food tours are also popular where you can enjoy the best of French-Canadian cuisine.
Did you know that Montreal has an underground city? Also known as the RESO, the underground walkways connect to shopping, hotels, metro stations and more.
Are you a fan of the Olympics? Be sure to check out Olympic Stadium. Montreal was home of the 1976 Summer Olympics, and you can see sites from the Games. Take a ride up the Montreal Tower for great city views. Also nearby is the Biodome which has five ecosystems and more than 250 different species of animals. The Montreal Botanical Garden also offers several beautifully themed gardens.
Of course, Montreal also offers a vibrant art scene. Check out the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts or the Contemporary Art Museum. Be sure to also check what’s on in town while you’re there for various concerts and performances.
