Maintenance Worker Helps Mom, Child Get to Terminal

An Aviation Department employee helped a young woman and her child when he noticed they were walking along the landscaped rocks near a busy section of roadway leading into the airport.

Hugo V., a building maintenance worker, was concerned for them and flagged down a Phoenix Police Officer who was driving by. Hugo and the police officer determined that the travelers were trying to get to Terminal 3 but were confused. Hugo put the passengers at ease and along with the police officer were able to safely get the passengers to their destination.

The cause for concern and willingness to step in and help is what makes us America’s Friendliest Airport®, and Hugo was recognized by Sky Harbor’s On the FLY team for his actions (F = Friendly. L = Let me help. Y = You.)

Tell us your story of a Sky Harbor employee who went above and beyond the customer service call of duty at skyharbor@phoenix.gov and we’ll make sure they get the recognition they deserve.
