Visit Knoxville for a Little Bit of Everything

Knoxville, Tennessee offers a variety of activities for families, couples, and solo travelers. Did you know Allegiant Airlines offers nonstop flights between Phoenix and Knoxville twice a week?

A trip to Knoxville brings visitors to the Great Smoky Mountains where they can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities from hiking to biking and more. In town, Knoxville has many shops, restaurants, art galleries, attractions and festivals to keep visitors entertained.

Here are a few ideas:

Knoxville has a rich history. Check out the Historic House Museums of Knoxville, including the Blount Mansion, which is a certified National Historic Landmark; James White’s Fort, which is a restoration of his twice-moved log cabin showing what frontier life would have been like in the 1780s; the Mabry-Hazen House; Ramsey House; historic Westwood and more.

Looking for a scenic ride? Hop aboard the Star of Knoxville riverboat for a cruise down the Tennessee River on an authentic stern wheel riverboat. The riverboat offers lunch, dinner, sightseeing and party cruises. Or take a train ride on the Three Rivers Rambler (3RR) if you are visiting around the Christmas holidays.

Phoenix may be hosting the WNBA All Star Game this year, but Knoxville is home to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Learn more about women’s basketball, its legends and more.

Speaking of events, did you know that Knoxville hosted the 1982 World’s Fair? If you head downtown, you’ll see the Sunsphere that was built for the event. Head to the fourth floor for an observation deck that offers wonderful views of Knoxville. Additionally, at 701 Henley St., visitors can see the world’s largest Rubik’s Cube on display. This was also part of the 1982 World Fair.

For great dining, outdoor concerts, shopping and more, be sure to check out Market Square in downtown Knoxville. There’s always something going on there and you can enjoy a number of local breweries or top-notch local restaurants.
