March 2024
March is Always Busy Season at Phoenix Sky Harbor
Even though we’re halfway through what is historically the busiest month at America’s Friendliest Airport®, there are still lots of passengers arriving and departing and it’s important to be prepared.
Our busy skies begin with busy roadways, and picking up or dropping off family and friends is a great place to start avoiding congestion on airport roadways and outside terminals:
- Take advantage of the PHX Sky Train® by picking up or dropping off at one of our PHX Sky Train® The stations are located at 24th Street for customers arriving from the west and at 44th Street for customers on the east side. Learn more about this easy way to avoid terminal curb congestion and roadway traffic.
- Drivers should watch their speed and keep an eye out for workers and other passengers once at Phoenix Sky Harbor. Avoid circling the terminals. Use the Cell Phone Lots east of Terminal 4, west of the West Economy Garage and at the 44th Street PHX Sky Train®
When you are planning your trip and before you come to the airport:
- Reserve your parking in the terminal parking garages, East Economy, and the 24th Street Express Pay parking area in advance at skyharbor.com/parking.
- Confirm your flight status with your airline before coming to the airport and give yourself plenty of time. If you are flying domestically, arrive at least two hours prior to your flight departure and three hours if you are traveling internationally.
- Reserve your spot in the TSA Security Checkpoint line by using the PHX RESERVE. Schedule your time before arriving at the airport on skyharbor.com/PHXReserve. Reservations can be made up to six days in advance.
- Check your bags for prohibited items before coming to the airport. Review the TSA Prohibited Items List to see what you can and can’t take on a flight.
- Visit the interactive maps on skyharbor.com to discover restaurants and shops near your gate as well as other amenities.
Need a hand at the airport?
- Look for our Navigators dressed in purple. Navigators are volunteers who serve all over the airport by providing directions, information, and friendly assistance. They are a welcoming presence to more than 130,000 passengers each day, truly making it America’s Friendliest Airport®.
- Travelers with special needs can arrange to pick up a Compassion Cacti™ lanyardprior to their trip, and even schedule a Navigator Guide to accompany them through the travel process. The Compassion Cacti™ lanyard signals to employees throughout the airport that a customer may need extra assistance or time as they pass through Phoenix Sky Harbor.
- Finally, reward yourself by checking out local art. Both terminals showcase exhibitions created by talented Arizona painters, photographers, sculptors, and other artists. These beautiful Phoenix Airport Museum exhibitionscan be seen both before and after security.
