Celebrating Customer Service Week at America’s Friendliest Airport®
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport spotlighted team members dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service during Customer Service Week from Oct. 7-11. This special week aims to recognize and celebrate the hard work of those in customer-focused roles who strive to enhance the travel experience for all visitors.
Throughout the week, America’s Friendliest Airport® featured some of these individuals on social media and on its website with short stories of their duties and the role customer service has in their line of work. From providing assistance at information desks to ensuring smooth terminal operations, in all facets of the airport environment, these individuals embody the spirit of hospitality that makes Phoenix Sky Harbor such a welcoming place to visit.
We are featuring one each month in PHX Check-In starting with Jacob H. who serves as an airport security guard, assisting passengers and ensuring smooth operations throughout the airport. His focus on customer service is evident in his daily interactions, where he assists with lost and found, enforces badging regulations, responds to emergencies, and collaborates with various partners, including police, fire, and airline staff.
He believes that having a friendly and respectful attitude is key to building strong working relationships. To Jacob, customer service means treating others as you would like to be treated.
A memorable experience for Jacob occurred during a routine walkthrough when he encountered an overwhelmed mother and her child. He guided them to the correct terminal and helped carry their luggage, witnessing the relief on her face as he eased her travel stress.
Best travel tip? “Look for the people in purple (Navigators) and red shirts—they’re here to help! And don’t forget to look up at the signs.”
