Home of the Buckeyes Offers Many Activities for Visitors

This month’s featured travel destination is Columbus, Ohio. The capital of Ohio is known for being the home to The Ohio State University, one of the nation’s largest universities, but it also has a variety of other attractions to check out when you’re in town.

Sports fans have several options depending on the time of year they visit. If football is your thing, watch the Buckeyes play on campus. If you prefer hockey, the Columbus Blue Jackets are a great option.

The city has several well-known areas to explore including German Village and Short North Arts District. The German Village is a historic area known for its charming architecture. Experience Columbus recommends a trip to Schmidt’s Restaurant and Sausage Haus. Do also visit a 32-room local bookstore called the Book Loft. In the Short North Arts District, visitors will find interesting shops and restaurants, murals, galleries and more.

Visitors wanting to enjoy being outside should head to the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens or the Scioto Mile and Bicentennial Park. Scioto Mile and Bicentennial Park offers an opportunity to walk along the trail or bike and see scenic views of Columbus.

Columbus also offers museums such as the Museum of Art, the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), and the Wexler Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University.

The town offers many activities for adults and kids alike. For more travel inspiration, visit the Experience Columbus website. Nonstop flights from Phoenix to Columbus are available on American and Southwest airlines.
