Phoenix Sky Harbor Breaks Record

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport made history in 2024 when it broke the record for the number of passengers in a single year.

In 2024, 52,325,266 passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor. That’s a 7.5 percent increase over 2023’s then-record number of total passengers.

This is the first time PHX has hurdled the 50 million passenger mark in a year. The airport held an event in mid-December to recognize the 50 millionth passenger to travel through Phoenix Sky Harbor in 2024.

Phoenix Sky Harbor also welcomed new, innovative concessions like Fan Shop by PGA Tour with its in-store golf simulator; the Coca-Cola Lounge and Popshop featuring vegan and gluten-free delights by The Healthy Voyager; and the much-anticipated Sapphire Lounge by The Club in Terminal 3.

Other highwater marks by America’s Friendliest Airport® in 2024:

  • The airport expanded its autonomous vehicle pick-up service to include terminal curbs.
  • PHX launched the Green Business Partner Program to recognize sustainability efforts among airport stakeholders.
  • The airport welcomed visitors for special events like as the NCAA Final Four and the WNBA All Star Game.
  • New service to Paris began on Air France.
  • Porter Airlines kicked off new nonstop service to Toronto.
  • American Airlines began service between PHX and Tijuana in February, which was the first United States from TIJ at the time.
