Air Service Updates: Safford Gets Route to PHX

The City of Safford started airline service for the first time in 50 years when Grand Canyon Airlines kicked off its route to Phoenix Sky Harbor Jan. 6. The airport last had air service in 1974.

This project is funded through the Small Community Air Service Development Program and a grant from Freeport-McMoRan Mining, whose global headquarters is next to PHX.

American Airlines is launching new service between Phoenix and Appleton, Wisconsin starting Feb. 15. This is the first time nonstop flights are being offered between the two cities. The flights will be operated by American Eagle affiliate Envoy Air on board an Embraer E175 regional jet and will run on Saturdays.
