Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport will be welcoming a new airline and adding a number of new routes, including an international destination this winter.

Phoenix’s fourth largest carrier, Frontier Airlines, recently announced 10 new routes that will begin in the winter season.

“Frontier Airlines will launch new nonstop service from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) to Philadelphia (PHL), Baltimore-Washington (BWI), Orange County, California (SNA), Seattle-Tacoma (SEA), Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP), Portland (PDX), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood (FLL), Nashville (BNA), Indianapolis (IND) and Kansas City (MCI) in November 2022 and January 2023,” said Frontier Airlines President and CEO Barry Biffle.

Frontier’s continued growth at PHX will be supported through the planned November opening of a new crew base, which is expected to initially employ up to 180 pilots and 275 flight attendants.

Breeze Airways announced Phoenix as a new destination. The airline will fly nonstop twice weekly from Phoenix to Provo, Utah and Charleston, South Carolina beginning in November. Charleston is a new market for a Phoenix.

Also in November, Spirit Airlines will begin daily nonstop service between Phoenix and Fort Lauderdale, a major focus city of theirs. They will also begin daily nonstop service to the barbeque capital of the U.S., Kansas City.Both flights begin Nov. 7.

America’s Friendliest Airport® is also getting new international service. Beginning Jan. 10, American Airlines will offer daily nonstop, year-round service between Phoenix and Monterrey, Mexico. The flight will be operated by an Embraer 175. Monterrey is Mexico’s third largest city and the capital of the state of Nuevo Leon and is an international business hub for northern Mexico.
