Phoenix Sky Harbor Celebrates the State that Rocks
PHOENIX – Celebrate Arizona’s 113th birthday at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport with free activities and special guests.
On Friday, Feb. 14, passengers traveling through Terminal 3 at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport will have the opportunity to participate in Arizona Rocks!, a one-of-a-kind event celebrating Arizona’s 113th year of statehood with fun, free activities inspired by geology and the natural beauty of our state.
What to Expect:
- View Artwork Inspired by Geology: Enjoy the Phoenix Airport Museum exhibition, Geometry of Geology, featuring landscape paintings by renowned local artist Merrill Mahaffey
- Meet the Artist: Merrill Mahaffey will be on-site to discuss the inspiration behind his rock formation paintings.
- Ask a Geologist: View fascinating rock samples from across Arizona and learn how you can discover these treasures yourself.
- FREE activities: Paint your own rock to take as a keepsake.
- Fun to-go: Grab a coloring sheet filled with fun facts about Arizona to color on your flight.

- Where: Terminal 3, Level 4 near Phoenix Airport Museum gallery (west end, post-security)
