Phoenix Rising Soccer Stadium

On November 16, 2022 the Phoenix City Council approved the lease of airport-owned land to the Phoenix Rising professional soccer organization to place a temporary outdoor soccer stadium at the site of the former greyhound racing park, just north of Sky Harbor. The site is not under the flight path. Planes arrive and depart to the east and west at Sky Harbor, and the soccer stadium will be north of the airport. An arena or stadium is a compatible use on airport land, when handled appropriately. Since the City of Phoenix owns the land where the stadium will be located, the Aviation Department is working with the developer to ensure that there are no potential hazards to aviation during construction, and Phoenix Rising has committed to promptly address any issues that may arise throughout the term of the lease.
