Initiatives

PHX Green Business Partner Program

The Department is proud to announce the launch of the PHX Green Business Partner Program effective May 30, 2024.

The program is a testament to the commitment of the City of Phoenix and its many partners to prioritize sustainable actions throughout Phoenix Sky Harbor and beyond.

Local Community

The Aviation Department plays a positive, active role in the Phoenix community. The Aviation Department provides aviation industry training for business leaders, conducts extensive noise mitigation outreach to neighborhoods around Phoenix Sky Harbor.

School Partnerships

The Aviation Department works with local high schools to bring real-world airport applications of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) to students. STEM is a national education priority, and airports serve as examples of science and technology in action.

Passenger Education

While passengers may only spend a brief period of time in our airports, the Aviation Department values the opportunity to communicate our sustainability initiatives directly with passengers. The sustainability team provides signage showcasing passenger environmental impact and solutions throughout the terminals. In addition, the team provides sustainability education resources through fun and interactive methods.
