Phoenix Aviation Advisory Board Members
The Phoenix Aviation Advisory Board (PAAB) is made up of nine members appointed by the Mayor and City Council to four-year terms. The Board, which meets monthly to review airport policies, makes recommendations to the City Council on major airport projects, concession contracts and leases. Membership is voluntary and uncompensated.
Ruben Alonzo is an Executive Director for Government and Community Engagement at Arizona State University. Prior to joining ASU, Alonzo served as Mayor Stanton's Chief of Staff for Operations, a role he took on after successfully managing Stanton’s mayoral campaign. Born and raised in the border town of Somerton, Ariz., Alonzo moved to the Valley to attend Arizona State University as a Flinn Foundation Scholar. After graduating, Alonzo worked on various political campaigns, including serving as Campaign Manager for Attorney General Terry Goddard’s re-election in 2006 and Ruben Gallego's primary election bid to replace retiring Congressman Ed Pastor in 2014. He also served as a Senior Policy Advisor to Goddard in the Attorney General’s office. Alonzo is also on the board of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and lives in central Phoenix with his wife Catherine.
In his role as President & CEO, Ron Price leads the Visit Phoenix team in its mission to promote the power of travel to elevate our communities and inspire our visitors.
With more than 27 years of experience in the tourism industry, Price has long been an active proponent of tourism on national, state, and local levels. He currently serves on various industry and community boards and is a member of the Board of Directors for the U.S. Travel Association, the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for the Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association, the Board of Directors for Downtown Phoenix Inc., the Greater Phoenix Chamber, and is a member of the Phoenix Aviation Advisory Board and Phoenix GO Bond Arts & Culture Subcommittee.
Prior to his arrival in Greater Phoenix, Price served as President & CEO of the Arlington Texas Convention & Visitors Bureau. He previously served as Assistant Executive Director of Visit San Antonio, a recognized leading convention destination. Before his time in the DMO world, Price spent over 12 years as a Marriott International executive.
Cohn joined Levine Investments Limited Partnership in March 2003 as Director of Real Estate. Primary functions include acquisition, disposition and evaluation of real estate holdings. Cohn also plays an active role in several companies owned or controlled by Levine et al, including Global Water Resources. Aviation Board member since 2007.
Sandy Ferniza is the Campus Liaison at the Helios Education Campus, the home of Helios Education Foundation and its partners. In this role, she serves as liaison between Helios and its partners and for convenings and special events.
Previously, Ms. Ferniza worked in the office of Rep. Ruben Gallego, AZ07, where she served as Director Intergovernmental Relations. Ms. Ferniza also worked at Arizona State University as Executive Director, Community Development, in the Vice President’s Office of Public Affairs and as Director, Office for Excellence in Government in the administration of Gov. Jane D. Hull. Ms. Ferniza also served as President and CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where she oversaw the creation of DATOS: The State of Arizona’s Hispanic Market, the most comprehensive compilation of research on the impact of Hispanics in the Arizona marketplace.
Ms. Ferniza’s community involvement spans wide. She is involved in numerous boards and advisory committees including the Phoenix Community Alliance and Charter 100 Arizona. She previously served on the Housing Assistance Council’s National Board of Directors and the City of Phoenix’s Water/Wastewater Rate Advisory Committee. She has also been recognized in the community as a Woman of Achievement Alumnus by Xavier College Preparatory, Valle del Sol: Profiles of Success Exemplary Leader, and the Arizona State University Los Diablos alumni chapter.
Valencia Fisker has been a resident of Phoenix since 2009. She recently retired after a 25-year career in the public utility industry with a focus on federal regulatory policy, compliance, and operations. Ms. Fisker served in various capacities at the director level with electrical utility companies in Oregon and Arizona. She earned a Juris Doctorate from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College and graduated as a member of the Cornelius Honor Society for superior scholarship, leadership, and contribution to the law school community. Ms. Fisker spent her early legal career as a deputy city attorney for the City of Portland, Ore. She has served on a variety of state and community non-profit boards.
Stephanie Fleischman Cherny is a fourth-generation Arizonan born and raised in Tucson. She is the Director, Global Enterprise Compliance Officer and Counsel at Intuit Inc. Prior to joining Intuit, Stephanie was Chief of Staff and Special Counsel at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Stephanie spent much of her career representing some of America’s largest companies and most prominent individuals in government and internal investigations, as well as designing and implementing legal and ethical compliance programs.
Stephanie graduated from the University of California, San Diego (B.A. History) and University of Southern California School of Law (Juris Doctorate). Stephanie is admitted to practice law in Arizona, California and Washington, D.C.
Annette Musa is a Senior Vice President and Private Client Advisor at Bank of America Private Bank in Scottsdale, Arizona. Annette is committed to building strong client relationships with ultra-high-net-worth families and individuals, including many business owners and women facing the financial challenges of inheritance, divorce or widowhood. She works closely with clients to help them create wealth management strategies based on a deep understanding of their life and legacy goals.
Annette leads a team of knowledgeable, experienced specialists from the Private Bank who collaborate to design and implement wealth management offerings tailored to individual client needs. The team can offer strategies for investment management, philanthropy and liquidity event planning; trust and estate planning services; and credit and lending solutions. On request, they will work with other members of the client’s professional team (including attorneys and CPAs) to coordinate the implementation of wealth management strategies.
Annette has more than 30 years of investment and wealth management experience. Prior to joining the Private Bank (formerly U.S. Trust) in 2017, she was a wealth advisor, regional manager and Arizona market president at Comerica. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management at the University of Phoenix while working fulltime.
Active in the community, Annette has a special interest in Hispanic organizations. She is on the Executive Board of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, on organization that promotes the success of Hispanic-owned and small businesses by facilitating business relationships, economic development and sharing of knowledge for the benefit of the State of Arizona and the growth and success of the members of the Chamber.
Pastor is a retired educator who served as director of bilingual education for the Arizona Department of Education for 20 years. She is also a board member on the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority and Friends of Phoenix Library board, and recently finished her term as a board member for Homebase Youth Services. Mrs. Pastor earned a Bachelor of Arts from Arizona State University. When not serving her community, she enjoys spending time with her four grandchildren.
David Shilliday is Vice President and General Manager of the Honeywell UAM/UAS organization. David has been with Honeywell for over 17 years, most recently serving as the Vice President and General Manager for the Power Systems business within the Engines and Power Systems SBU. Prior to that, he served as the Vice President of EMEAI Airlines, where he led the sales, customer account, and channel management functions for the Airlines Aftermarket in that region. David holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona, Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University. David holds several patents on innovative automotive safety technology and has published cooperative research in the field.
Dan Brownlee started his Southwest career in July of 2000 as a BNA Ramp Agent. Over the years Dan has served in various Leadership roles, including MDW Assistant Station Manager, PHX Assistant Station Manager, MCI Station Manager and now PHX General Manager. Dan graduated Middle Tennessee Station University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Management. He has been married to his wife Shelley for 19 years and they have two daughters, Addison and Avery. The Brownlee’s enjoy traveling to any destination with a beach. Dan also enjoys aviation history and photography. He and Shelley are avid sports fans and love cheering on the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Dallas Cowboys.
