Celebrating 25 Years of Friendly Faces at PHX
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is celebrating a major milestone: 25 years of its beloved Navigator volunteer program! Since launching in November 2000, this initiative has grown into a powerhouse of passenger support, with more than 1,600 volunteers donating more than 1.6 million hours of service. To add to the impressiveness of this milestone, there are currently 59 Navigators who have volunteered for more than 10 years, 41 for more than 15 years, and 27 who have volunteered for more than 20 years.
From offering directions and answering questions to bringing smiles through the popular therapy dog Navigator Buddies program, these volunteers are truly the heart of America’s Friendliest Airport®. Whether they’re retired professionals from all backgrounds like pilots, teachers, or nurses or teen volunteers gaining life experience, Navigators have shaped a culture of service for every traveler passing through PHX.
This year’s anniversary celebrations will feature volunteer spotlights across Phoenix Sky Harbor’s website, newsletters, and social media, culminating in a festive tribute in November.
